This country/world cannot afford to lose people like Charlie. He was an inspiration to me even though it could rightly be said I hardly knew him.
I knew enough to know he was a hero in every sense of the word. A man who put it all on the line when it was needed and where it was needed; a man who more than most understood that freedom is not free like so many things so many take for granted today.
He was rightly proud of what he and those around him accomplished and it was my cherished honor to meet some of his brothers-in-arms at one of their reunions in Baltimore.
I know his family will miss him, his country will miss him and I shall miss him.
Stand down soldier, you've earned it.
RIP Charlie...Heaven is a little safer now.
